For 30+ years, RS Software has helped design, scale, and secure the rails that move money—first inside global card networks, then across national real-time infrastructures, and now through product platforms that make payments interoperable, explainable, and future-ready.
From enterprise-grade beginnings to the heart of payments
RS Software’s story starts with enterprise-class engineering—IBM-390 mainframe capability, high-availability patterns, and the discipline to run “always-on” transaction systems. Those foundations opened doors to marquee clients and, critically, into card authorization and settlement with Visa—among the earliest India-delivered, Visa-grade programs.
Through the early 2000s we moved up the value chain—architecting payment gateways, building acquirer adapters, and laying the groundwork for reconciliation and merchant reporting. That step changed our trajectory from general services to specialist payments engineering.
“From the rails up: we progressed from raw switching to adjacent services, then to data platforms and real-time risk—always with scale and resilience in mind.”
Co-architecting digital public rails:
As the world shifted to instant payments, RS helped design and scale India’s real-time platforms—UPI and national bill pay—followed by an enterprise fraud & risk platform that completed the country’s stack. This work catalyzed our move into platforms that operate at population scale.
UPI has since grown to 20B+ transactions in a single month (Aug 2025) and is connected internationally—evidence that openness, resilience, and interoperability can scale.
What we learned from multi-year engagements (and why it matters now):
Multi-year engagements inside a global network taught us to engineer for petabyte data, merchant intelligence, tokenization, EMV, and wallet security—skills that now underpin our Fraud & AML and orchestration products. Those same lessons—about reliability, performance envelopes, and spec discipline—shaped our product culture.
The RS OPMF: our modernization blueprint
RS OPMF (Open Payments Modernization Framework) is our practitioner-built blueprint for upgrading payment ecosystems with composable components. It defines a Core–Mantle–Surface architecture that preserves core integrity while enabling rapid customization at the edge—spanning ISO 20022 orchestration, bill presentment/RfP, real-time FRAML, certification sandboxes, cross-border routing, and high-frequency settlement. OPMF turns policy → pilot → population scale, leveraging RS’s decades of Visa/NPCI-grade engineering and productized platforms
From services to platforms: the RS product suite
We’ve deliberately shifted from bespoke projects to reusable, productized capability—so central infrastructures, processors, and banks can modernize faster, with less risk.
- RS DigitalEdge™ — Orchestrating Digital Money
A cloud-native modernization spine that connects ACH/RTP/SWIFT with ISO 20022 and prepares corridors for CBDCs/tokenized value. It turns compliance into monetizable use cases—with corridor orchestration and liquidity views.
- RS Bill@Edge™ — Rail-agnostic Bill Presentment & RfP
A unified Request-to-Pay and bill presentment solution that enables a network-model for bill and invoice payments—allowing central infrastructures to scale and monetize adoption while empowering banks to deliver trusted, differentiated biller and customer experiences.
- RS IntelliEdge™ — Real-time Fraud & AML with GenAI
Real-time, multi-rail fraud and risk management blending rules with AI/ML on one platform, providing cross-rail coverage and lowering total cost of ownership for both central infrastructures and banks.
- RS AssureEdge™ — Dynamic, ISO 20022-ready Sandbox
Speeds certification and continuous change on real-time rails, enforcing readiness and resilience at launch and over lifecycle.
- RS RealEdge™ — FX-aware Routing & Multi-Country Orchestration
Intelligent FX-aware routing and multi-country transaction orchestration, delivering corridor-wide interoperability and seamless in-country and cross-border payments.
- RS SettleEdge™ — High-Frequency Settlement
The engine that enables tokenized, multi-rail clearing with predictable, latency, high availability, and full auditability.
- RS ConnectEdge™ — One Integration, Many Rails
Unified access to multiple payment rails via a single integration—simplifying developer experience and governance.
- Payabbhi® — Unified acceptance, acquiring, and disbursement
A cloud-native, API-first digital payments platform that enables businesses to compose their own ecosystem with modular components, seamless integrations, intelligent orchestration, and real-time intelligence.
Problems we’re built to solve (today)
1. Interoperability & future-readiness.
Markets need a bridge between today’s rails and tomorrow’s digital money.
RS DigitalEdge™ provides ISO 20022 orchestration and a policy-to-pilot path for tokenized settlement—without stranding existing investments.
2. Bill payments that actually scale.
RfP adoption stalls when onboarding and invoice lifecycle are fragmented.
RS Bill@Edge™ creates a rail-agnostic overlay that standardizes flows domestically and cross-border—turning instant rails into ROI and inclusion.
3. Real-time risk without friction.
With authorizations and settlement converging, risk must be in-flight. RS IntelliEdge™ blends rules + AI/ML and provides GenAI explainability, born from stream-analytics work handling velocity at national scale.
4. Readiness at launch—and through change.
RS AssureEdge™ compresses certification cycles and enforces resilience for evolving real-time schemes.
5. Cross-border cost, speed, and transparency.
RS RealEdge™ and RS SettleEdge™ enable corridor routing and dependable settlement to meet global priorities.
The road ahead: programmable, interoperable, explainable
The next decade won’t belong to a single rail or instrument. It will be defined by programmable money, shared rules, and trustworthy AI that spans borders and channels. Our commitment is to stay the quiet force that makes this work: bridging policy to pilots to population scale; defending ecosystems with explainable risk; and giving builders the orchestration, bill-pay overlays, certification tools, and settlement engines to create what comes next.
If you’re designing national rails, running a bank platform, or scaling an ecosystem, let’s talk about how RS Software can accelerate your roadmap—safely, and with outcomes you can measure.
