a.  Application Maintenance & Support Requirements
Overview
The project is to serve the IT applications maintenance and support requirements of the client.

The Client is involved in Issuing side of the credit card business and they also act as a processor for several credit unions for their authorization, settlement and billing etc. The company is responsible for development, maintenance and support of all required IT applications for the business. Their in house programmers developed the software applications in early 90s.

We have been chosen by the client in 2007 as a software vendor for maintaining their IT applications and support Production problems (of Severity 2-5). The operational model is Offshore – Onsite.
Objective
Client offered services to different credit card issuer with the facility of complete authorization both from issuer and acquirer side using backend CICS processes. To cater the ongoing dynamic changes of various parameters, maintenance of existing software needed in a stipulated time as per the various SLAs set with their clients.

RS offered entire maintenance services starting with SLA level (2-5).
Our Approach
Development of each Project started with receipt of the specification from Client. The development life cycle consists of:

Analysis: RS had to analyze the requirements and do the impact analysis for the entire project

Development: Then based on the analysis, detail design document is prepared and then the impacted programs and Jcls are coded in the mainframe environment using Cobol, CICS, and JCL.

Testing: The programs are unit-tested using unit test cases. Debugging is done using Tracemaster. Functional testing is done using client specified simulator.

b.  Service Quality and Transaction Reporting
Overview
The Project provides services through onsite - offshore model, supporting business and time critical applications and meeting stringent service levels agreements.

RS Software has been working in the Payment Card Industry over 10 years and the Client is one of the most satisfied customer who is giving continues business since last 10 years
Objective
The client requires Maintenance, Enhancement and 24X365 Production support for various applications in the following areas:
Transaction Reporting Services
Report Distribution management System
Service Quality Reporting
Card Holder Database
Sales Analysis
Visa Vue Advantage
Also the Testing for above applications
The client needs to provide support for those applications on priority basis without any failure in different time zones across various geographical regions.

Our Approach

In order to address all the needs of the client while keeping the operational cost low, we came forward to provide the maintenance, enhancement programming and production support for the client's applications in a cost-effective manner through an onsite / off-shore team model. While operating the support service from two locations in USA and India, we not only minimized the cost of the service but also taken care of the problem of support in different time zones by splitting the whole service between Onsite (USA) and Offshore (India) thus truly implementing the “follow-the-sun” concept.

The greatest challenge was to get acquainted with the growing needs of diversified members, knowledge transfer of the various critical applications from the application experts of the client within a short span of time, responding to the calls and meeting the SLA for all the tickets opened and resolving them to the best satisfaction of the user.
